First Millpond TRA meeting

We normally host our meetings at the Cherry Garden Hall, a familiar and comfortable place to gather.

Recently, though, we learned a fascinating piece of our local history. The very first Millpond Estate Tenants and Residents Association meeting took place not in a hall at all, but in the Millpond air raid shelter during the Second World War.

It’s a powerful reminder of how community life carried on even in the most uncertain times. While our surroundings have changed, the spirit behind those early meetings, people coming together to support one another and look after their neighbourhood, remains very much the same today.
